With a light dusting of snow in the forecast for Friday and Saturday it got me thinking about whether I should do a bag round Thursday or today (snow likely won't hang around and it's only forecasted to be .3" total between both days) or whether I should just stop mulching for the season.

When do you stop mulching for the season? Only after top growth stops or before?

Don't judge me. After 32 years on the planet I've spent the last few months really paying attention to how I should do it.

I don't stop mulching. I have even mowed 2-3 weeks (on Christmas day) after top growth has stopped just to mulch the leaves from the trees.
Agreed. Keep going as long as there are leaves and the weather allows.

Thanks all. I was feeling bad because I'm the only one in the neighborhood not bagging. Felt like I was doing something wrong :)
I wish my neighbors bagged their leaves. I'd take 'em and dump them in my lawn and mulch them in. Instead mine burn all theirs (i live in the county outside of any city limits)

I just bagged for the first time this season for a few reasons.

1- Pick up debris- pine needles, acorns, twigs, etc that won't fully shred.

2- First cut since overseed, so i didn't want to mulch such a large volume.

3- Fresh grass clippings this week and leaves for the rest of the fall in the compost bin will be perfect in the spring.

I'll mulch the rest and then bag on my last cut and the first cut in the spring. Once in the winter, when the ground is frozen but we get a nice enough day (jan or feb), I use the lawn vac to get ahead on the spring cleanup.
