What would you guys do with my weed infested "Sideway"

Turning to you guys for advice.

We'll call this my "Sideway"; an area of grass ~68'x3' (~200sf) that runs the length of my driveway. The area is infested with weeds and thatch; dandelions, ground ivy/garlic mustard, Poa A, etc., etc. I'd be surprised if any of it was grass, to be honest.

I put down a 2-3 month app of Prodiamine spiked with Trimec Classic on March 28, 2021, but haven't done anything to the "Sideway" other than mow it a few times last fall after I moved in. I started manually digging/pulling the dandelions, and I'm about 1/3 of the way down the driveway and have ~2.5gal of dandelion tap roots/leaves.

Is it even worth it at this point or should I just leave it, let it suffer all summer and then smoke it off and reno it in the fall? It is in desperate need of leveling/top dressing and I need to fix my neighbor's landscape edging , but I was not planning on seeding this area or really fixing it until fall. However, pulling up dandelions is leaving a lot of bare dirt in the wake, which I fear is only going to perpetuate the problem.

Some pictures for reference:

So, what would TLF do?

I don't know about others, but I would nuke it now to make sure none of those dandelion/ivy/etc. seeds had an opportunity to spread to other parts of my yard; take the summer to make sure everything is dead, then seed in the fall. It may not look that great for a couple/few months, but in the long run I think you'll come out ahead.

But again, that's just me.

@Cluelessone - Would you hold off on nuking it until the fall?

@thin_concrete - I kind of like this suggestion because I'd rather look at brown grass that I intentionally killed off rather than a thriving weed patch that hasn't even hit it's growth spurt yet so who the hell knows what is about to come up over the next couple weeks...

Might be a tad early to put down gly, but then again if I am going to do repeat apps I guess it really doesn't matter when I start nuking it.

I would not wait to nuke it, I would do it now. I'd level it as soon as possible though, to allow for some settling, and a quickie re-level before fall reno.

I'd like to say though that I'm a noob compared to some of the titans on here, so my .02c is probably only worth .01. :)

@Cluelessone Thank you. Hey man, if you're a noob I don't even know what to classify myself as, so I very much appreciate the feedback. If I can get to the store this weekend I will grab some Round Up. If it dies, it dies. Wonder if I can talk my neighbor into letting me spray some (read: a lot) CCO on his mulch bed while I'm at it...

It's better off to kill it early because Poa Annua can be killed off hopefully before you see seed heads and break the cycle (an annual) though it'sprobably late for that. Poa Trivialis is a real nightmare where the only good solution is to nuke it (a perrenial). It goes dormant in the summer if it's really hot and comes back. You need to kill it while it's growing and before it goes dormant (if it does).

Why is it that no one on this forum ever recommends sod? It seems like the easiest, cheapest and fastest way to fix such a small area that looks like it's already the exact width sod comes in.

Just boggles the mind everyone automatically recommends the 12 step 12 month solution when the 2 step 2 hour solution exists.

Kill and get mulch and a couple of plants/shrubs. It does [not] make sense to have 2 ft strip of grass next to the driveway.
^^^This.^^^ Dig it up and plant some wildflowers or a nice ground cover.

I agree with you. Sod if he wants grass.

I think those saying maybe give up on grass for that strip may have a better point, though.

All of this is personal opinion, but this is why I went with seed over sod;

Most of us are kind of lawn fanatics that like to select our cultivars of seed. Also sod is often grown in full sun conditions and doesn't always establish in poor soil and shade. And finally, the sod adds soil, which can be an issue if you are repeatedly fixing a spot or it can screw up your leveling if you're just fixing a spot. Seed is easier and cheaper too, IMO. Just gotta be patient.
