Whatever this stuff is, its taking over my backyard. I'm new, so if this is just crabgrass or something common I apologize! Anyway, It pulls out super easily by hand. It grows really tall but has been growing sideways so the mower doesn't catch it. I raked the areas and pulled as much up as possible by hand and plan to throw down seed. What is it and what should I do? Thanks.

No I havent. This year I did Scotts with Halts in early May, scotts weed and feed in June and Milo in July. I found this forum a tad too late.

How would I take care of it of its nimblewill? It kinda looks like its that to me from looking on google? Tenacity is quite pricey and im nervous about spraying a chemical as i haven't done it yet.

Since I plan to aerate and overseed inn the fall is it better to apply tenacity now or wait? Or should I spray the lawn both now and in fall?

Also, do I spot spray or cover the entire lawn?

Thanks!

I had a bad bentgrass infestation and used this Penn State study on control with tenacity. It's a good read! The results of the study are that the best control can be had with 4 applications at the 4oz per acre rate. Max yearly application is 16oz per acre. It did not give me complete control, however, and that was part of my decision to renovate. It may take two seasons of 4 applications each season.

Awesome read Monty, thanks so much. I ordered some Tenacity tonight. Im nervous being that its expensive and I've never sprayed a chemical. My one concern is that I have a dog, do you guys know how long before she can go out on the lawn after applying?

I also have a dog, and here is what the label says:
To reduce movement into sensitive species such as bentgrass, keep people and pets off treated areas until spray
has dried and irrigate lightly to move product from turf foliage before resuming normal irrigation.
Not sure how large your lawn is, but the mix rates are very low for tenacity so it should last
