Every now and then early morning I have a white foam/fuzz patch scattered around my yard. The grass under whatever this is normally browns and if I take my foot and wipe it off it leaves a brown spot on the grass.

I will check to see if the brown goes away this afternoon as I can't remember from the past. What is this and what do I do to prevent it.

It looks like a fungal mycellium. Hopefully it is something fairly benign like powdery mildew, but with a little more research, you may be able to determine what it is exactly.
