So my lawn is still mostly in dormancy, but some areas are coming to life and are looking green/brownish.

I went to one area and pulled on it and the whole thing came up like a carpet. I did not see grubs below, just seems like very shallow roots? I overseeded last year but have a feeling i have a lot of poa triv or bentgrass. Dont mind the wick stick. I just got it and was seeing how hard it would be to move around

Was it like that last fall? Aug-Sep is when you would have seen your worse grub damage. Based on what I've seen on TV weather wise, its' too cold for you to see grubs now, they're deeper in the ground.

I have a lot of holes in my yard that are being made by squirls. Though i have a black walnut tree so i presume they have been burying nuts.

No grub damage seen last year. I can shovel out the patch and look?

Sghould i just put down grub killer now and then again another version in June?

So, I see pine needles. Is this under a tree that doesn't see much light? Also, is this an established lawn, or newly seed last year?
