I have these bald patches off my back porch. Not sure why. Originally thought a rabbit was eating it cause I see one eating grass in the area in my backyard late at night on occasion. Now I don't think so.

Not sure. Fungus?

2 quick things come to mind for me. First, I see this is close to your foundation. Could just be buried rocks & debris from construction. As others have suggested on this forum poke around with a screwdriver and see if you hit anything that would obstruct growth.

Also check after a rainstorm. It looks like an area where standing water could collect, harming the grass. I experienced a similar issue in my yard and corrected by leveling and aerating.

Just my 2 cents- I know others will chime in as well.

Im not a expert, but doesn't look like fungus. I am with cnet24 on possibly standing water, but if that was the issue, you would see black algae. Has this always been like this, or just occurred?
I have a few areas in my backyard that hold water just long enough to make the grass very thin/not grow but not long enough for the algae. I had a couple spots that were so compacted that they looked like this. You haven't spilt any chemicals have you?

I would do the screwdriver test first. The holes made will help a little if there is a drainage issue, but it looks to be sloped away from the foundation.

I have some areas around the north side of my house that are patchy like that because they don't get enough direct sunlight.

I have a little bit of experience with this. I would check your gutters to make sure they arent clogged. I have the same issue, i finally looked out during a rainstorm only to see water pouring over the edges right where i am having trouble groing bermuda.
My gutters were clogged as all get out.
This is a live pic

That side of the house gets the most shade and used to be pretty thin. But overall it has got better. These patches seem to SLOWLY be getting worse.
