I get a carpeting of this weed each year here in East Tennessee. Scott's weed and feed kills it but then I end up with dead brown weeds before grass fills in. I go through this each year. Can someone tell me what it is and how I can permanently get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

Is this in a shaded moist area?

I can't tell the actual weed, but weed b gonna clover chickweed and oxalis (CCO) should take care of it.

It's in the full sun area of my lawn and covers large swaths of it. It is a small coarse weed about 2 inches tall.

Looks like garden thyme! But G-man is right. Weed-b-gon Cco will knock it out.
