I want to preface these few questions with saying that this forum has been a huge help in getting to learn grasses and how to maintain a better yard.

And now, on to the questions lol

https://imgur.com/a/L95Cw

In these two pictures, what is the brown/dead grass/weed? Only thing I did to my yard this hear has been dimension granuals (hi yield) and weed b gone, plus I just fertalized a few days ago with milogranite.

In the greener pic, what type of grass weed is that?

Also I am trying to get a more Bermuda yard . Is it worth it to over seed with bermuda or should I stick to the dimension/weed b gone/fertalizer routine?

Also if overseed is the best route, when do I apply that, and I know I can't do a winter round of dimension correct?

Thanks again for all the help

In the first picture, the "brown" stuff is dormant bermuda

In the second picture, the "green" stuff is Poa with the seed heads.

I wouldn't worry about overseeding with bermuda if you already have some. Once it wakes up and the temps start rising, just hit with some nitrogen monthly and keep it watered and mowed often and it will spread like crazy.

You know I thought it was Bermuda but man it's been warm here, wonder why it's still dormant?

Was I too early with the fertalizer if it's still dormant?

Also,I pulled a piece up and it came up very easily...is that supposed to happen?

And I thought it was POA, glad to know my fall application will hopefully stop that next year.

What pulled up when you pulled it up? Was it just the leafs or the whole plant with roots and all?

Will do a test tomorrow and let you know but I want to say it was whole plant....and it might have been a weed and not just the grass. Will test tomorrow and get back to you.

Bermuda comes out of domancy when soil temps are 55+ correct? Pretty sure down here we have been that high for a little while. Not sure what would have killed the bermuda, I did not put down anything that should have messed with it.

Bermuda just starts waking up at 55F, it would take a decent streak of warm temperature to get it fully awake. It may also depend on what you did or didn't do before it went to sleep for the Winter.

According to soil temps maps, it's been over 55 for atleast a month/month and half.

Will do the pull test tonight when I get home and pray it's not dead.

Also didn't do anything this winter.

You're Bermuda isn't dead. It's awake and probably growing. The Bermuda is the stuff in the red boxes.

You've got some weeds, but you said you just used weed-b-gone. I'd give it 10-14 days and reevaluate if you need to spray a 2nd follow up dose. Did you use the Hose Attach weed-b-gone, or the concentrate you mix into a sprayer?

I used the hose attached, figured it's the best way to not mess it up., I used the weed b gone in February which in hindsight might have been a tad early but it did kill a lot of clovers and stuff.

I wonder if why would some Bermuda be growing and then I have some larger patches of dead stuff.
