What are your opinions on the use of a comb on your reel mower. My atco balmoral is equipped with one, butt i am not sure if i should use of or not. What are the benefits?

I took my off since I dont see a benefit for my height of cut (25mm)

I would die for a comb on my mower. Some of my grass types love to creep and before you know it I have areas akin to a comb over. The comb would lift up this lateral growth and present it to the reel. I have to verticut, hand rake or use the Allett scarifier cassette to cut or lift the lateral growth. My hoc is 18 mm and 25 mm on my front and back yards.

I have put forward the case of buying a used reel mower with a groomer, but my wife put a stop to that dream immediately :lol:

My hoc is currently 19mm. Should i set the comb on 15mm? And are there any downsides of using a comb?

Are we talking about the same thing? To me the comb is the black bristle mounted on the wood. The groomer is the metal mounted right before the reel.
