Hello All,

Last year was my first year doing my own lawn and i didnt really do much. Is there something i should be putting down now, soil temperature is around 70 degrees now. Should i be placing something down now to get ready for the summer months? I want to have a better year than last year LOL.

It has to be something i can get locally preferably at home depot. All i did last year was Bonus S scotts throughout the year, but its been several months now.

+1 on LCN, especially if you have Saint Augustine.

Send pictures of your grass from afar and up close. My brother uses Bonus S on his Saint Augustine down in Ocala and it looks as good, if not better, than Allyn's. If you have Bermuda or Zoysia, there are far better things you could be doing. Let's ID your grass type first, then you could start doing specific research here on the Warm Season Discussion and the journals. It's not as complicated as it seems once you get the process down.

That buffalo is not dormant and still growing ok. Its green and there is runners about to hit the concrete.

If you apply anything might be at a preventative rate.

It look awesome for winter. Where i live it goes straw like in the winter.

Looks like the grass is nice and thick. There are none if any weeds to be seen in the pictures.

Looks like you cut with a ride on mower??

@Buffalolawny is correct, it's Saint Augustine and not dormant. You might get some slow down in SE Florida but it grows all winter down there. I would definitely recommend getting the warm-season guide from LCN. He has tons of videos on YouTube. He also has free guides and newsletters at LCN Guides.

Thanks guys. it does look good. it has looked better. But i honestly do not do anything to do other than weed killer and bonus s. was hoping to make it better this year. im starting to get some brown spots now, but most attributed to the sprinklers not coming on since its been so windy here lately.

Consider yourself blessed if you never have to enter the insecticide fungicide game with st Augustine. It becomes expensive.

I use that Lawn Care Nut guide For my St Aug in S Florida.... The only thing I skip is the Bonus S. Instead, I apply a light fertilizer and 2-4-D in Feb (Image Weed Killer). But only if there's some weeds that the pre emergent missed.

Also LCN has a soil sample kit. Prob not the best choice but it's easy and fast. Test your PH
