I have a mulch bed that wasn't up kept very well. I've got several *** sprouts coming up through the mulch bed and I'm wondering if it is possible to yank them out keeping as much of the roots as possible and transplanting them to a bare spot. I know you can plug KBG and transplant successfully but what about these little guys? I've got hundreds of them and if I can successfully transplant them it would be nice.

If this is possible is there anything I should do to make the transplant successful?

I purposely let my edges go on my mulch beds last year and am using the ones that spread in to help fill in some bare spots I have. It has worked for me before so I think it should work for you.

It works...but you do have to water them more often than established grass. I transplanted about 50 of them to a thin area a few weeks ago, and placed them strategically for maximum void closure.

Thanks everyone. It's good to know that it'll work. Definitely a little more work than seeding but probably worth seeing results instantly vs waiting 21 days. :) How long do you need to keep them extra watered before you can let them go on their own?

I didn't water mine at all, except the first couple of days, which I knew wasn't the best idea. We did get a decent number of days with light rain the first week and a half...but then we went another week and a half without much rain, and some of them dried out because I didn't water them. So I'd say every day for a week, and then as needed for the week after that.
