Both 26" units, I have spent time with the Jacobsen 526, some cutting and some maintenance on a neighbors unit.

Are they both basically the same thing, any major differences in the two units? The only thing I did not like on the Jacobsen is the drive is either engaged or disengaged, it wont freewheel like the Tru-cut.

Both are a solid choice.

Having already used and worked with the 526, it maybe the better choice for you? I haven't used any of the 26" models, but I'd like to have one.

What are the HOC ranges on both mowers?

I believe both go from short to 1.25"

I think when it all comes down to it between the two mowers, it will be on the condition and maintenance of the mowers and what each of them comes with. I also believe that when it comes to greens mowers, there isn't really too much difference between all the major brands.
