I have a fescue yard, but thinking about Zoysia next year. How do you guys/gals keep Zoysia/Bermuda out of your neighbors yard?

Apologize if this has been asked; I searched the site and didn't see much on it.

Thanks in advance

I only have one adjoining neighbor and he doesn't care for his yard. He hired a lawn crew to mow it once a week to comply with the HOA. My zoysia has now spread a good 3+ feet into his bermuda, but since he doesn't care, neither do I.

I have read that if you want to prevent zoysia from spreading into an area, you will need to put a metal barrier at least 14" deep into the soil.

14" sounds kind of excessive  I would think 6-8" would be plenty to keep the rhizomes and stolons at bay.

As for your neighbors lawn, I really wouldn't worry about it too much unless they really take care of their lawn.

I'm considering it as well but I'm concerned that it would be taken over by the wild/common Bermuda that surrounds me. That's why I'm leaning towards a Bermuda variety. And I really have nothing to offer in the way of an answer for you. I've officially added nothing of value to this post.

I assume your neighbors have fescue/ cool season? If so, good question. Wonder if there is a herbicide that cool handles, warm doesn't? Surely there is.
I have neighbors on the left and right, both have fescue(the entire neighborhood does).
