Hello,

There is a game that we played as kids in Southern Ontario where we grab this weed, and ask people "tree or bush?" and we proceed to make the weed look like a bush by pulling two fingers up the stem (making the removed weed leaves look like a bush).

Well, I suddenly have a lawn filled with these...and I don't wanna play "tree or bush" anymore.

What weed is this? and How do I get rid of them?

That weed is called Kentucky Bluegrass! It's something that warm season Bermuda Grass lawn owners (e.g. @Ware, @Colonel K0rn, and too many others to list), would try to kill...unless they moved into the cool season region.

I don't recommend you try to kill it, though! It's a really nice lawn grass in the cool season region.

Full disclosure... @Ware deserves credit for planting a cool season grass. But then he killed it later on.

@Lawnmower_Man, it's neither a tree or bush...no worries...it's just your grass seeding. It might continue for a month. Sometimes a cut a half inch lower one time does the trick, but not always.

@g-man is not going to be happy with me when he wakes up and reads this...

Oh good. This is a relief.
I had some quackgrass, and I was worried that this was some other similar version of this weed.

Another quick question...

Does this mean that the *** will spread if I allow for these seedheads to release and spread?

I have to mow the lawn today, but I would hold off if it meant even MORE *** seeds being spread across the lawn.

Hahaha the "tree or bush" game. I remember that. I wonder if it was a regional thing?

Go ahead and mow. Those seeds wont sprout more KBG for you. I've been chopping them off for a couple weeks now.

Keep it fed, and the KBG will do all the spreading for you.
