Super Sack of Sand?

I'm looking to do some sand leveling in my lawn. I need about one cubic yard. Has anyone ordered a Super Sack of sand instead of having it dumped on the driveway? We have off and on rain in the forecast and a super sack would be a good way to keep the sand dry.

A worry I have is whether it's difficult to shovel out the sand from a super sack. Does anyone have experience with this?

I just priced it out previously and it was 10X the price of anything else for the same material. I'd get it dumped and throw a tarp on it.

However, other members have used the sacks with good success, so definitely an option.

Not sand, but I am just about finished with a SuperSod 'Big Bag' of compost I purchased to fill in the seams in my sod.
In my case I used a box cutter to slit the sides of the bag as I got towards the bottom, made it much easier. I would think with sand it would be somewhat more difficult to maneuver a shovel full up and over a waist high barrier.
While the price was higher, around here no one wants to/will deliver less than 3 yards of material and as I do not own a truck my options are limited.

I did this once. As @smurg mentioned, the biggest downside is the cost. The super sacks are more expensive than bulk sand, so for a lot of sand there is definitely some savings in getting a dump truck load. That said, getting only 1 yard of bulk sand delivered in a dump truck is probably not going to be cheap either. The delivery will likely cost you way more than the sand.

As for the shoveling, I just cut the sack down a couple times as I emptied it with some utility scissors to make it easier to get to the sand.

Had a neighbor that worked at a manufacturing plant with spare bags to throw away. He took it to a local guy. They brought it on a pallet riding on the back of a sod delivery. He said it wasn't a huge cost. I'll check with him. He didn't need the extra sand and is a real neat freak. Here's where you can buy the bags on Amazon.

RE: Leveling with sand??

I have 2 year old zeon zoysia lawn from sod on So Cal (1,800 Sq Ft).
I think it is time to level while our growing season is in full swing.
I was planning to order a 9 cu ft bag of "washed masonry sand" from my local home center.
Is this sand Ok for the job.
I also order an R & R 36" leveling rake.

I've picked up the sack of sand a few times but only because the material supply place closes early on Saturday and I didn't have time to pick it up earlier. @$50/.33yd, it's 4X the cost.

Our is easy to remove from the bag, I slit the side of the bag and dump it out on my driveway.

I recently got a stack of levelmix sand delivered from Supersod. This stuff spreads very easy and the organic matter greened up the side of my lawn I applied it to better than fertilizer. I didn't have an issue shovelling it from the bag to the wheel barrow. I believe i paid around 200$
