Like many of you here my lawn is still much greener than my neighbors at this point in December. I was wondering if that usually indicates quicker green up in the spring?

I've found that to be true in my area. There could be many factors, typically because I scalp lower and earlier than most people in my area I see a quicker green up.

Rentenchu, when do you plan to scalp in 2018? I live south of you in DFW area and planning my attack. I'm guessing we would share a very similar growth season -- give or take a week...

It's all situational. When I see green Bermuda in the center of my lawn, I scalp it. The last 2 seasons based on this sign, I've scalped mid February.

People have diffrent signs they use to determine the scalp date. Early spring (when you have the time) is always a good choice.

I've got three kids playing sports - time in the spring is at a premium. If I see significant green in February, I'll jump at it. Thanks for the feedback.

My lawn finally went to sleep two weeks ago, when we had weather that was consistently in the 30's... which is pretty uncommon for our area. It was really cold.
