Stihl 510 Electric Mower Mini Review

So I nearly bought a used Stihl mower today. Woman's husband used it one time, and decided he didn't like mowing lawns.

The only reason I didn't, is she had the blower and weed whacker as well, and despite giving me a price on the mower, battery, and charger, I showed up to pick them up and she suddenly only wanted to sell the set.

Anyhow, here is my mini review:

-Battery had 1 bar, and I was still able to cut about 500 sq ft without issue
-it is extremely quiet and feels well built
-it picks up the clippings well, and I didn't see any left behind
-cuts well without bogging down

But my absolute FAVORITE feature, is you set the cut height with one heavy duty lever, and that sets the height for *all four wheels*.

As someone who cuts a few lawns in the neighborhood at varying heights, it's a super nice convenience feature.

When I can, I plan on getting the self propelled version and battery kit (so I will have two batteries)

If you're considering it, go for it. It's every bit as good or better than my Honda HRX

When you do pick one up, I'm curious what kind of range you get out of it. The RM510V takes a big hit on range due to the self-propel, according to Stihl's specs.

I'm sure the thing is designed well but for a mower that should max out on a 3,000sq ft lawn, the $800 price is a bit hard to swallow. Adding $280 AP300S batteries to go longer gets painful real quick too. I'd need 7 batteries to get through my 20k! Not that it's a reasonable application for that unit.

I'm at 3K sq ft, and have one AP300S, and kind of want a second battery anyway.

This lady had a non-S, with one bar of battery on it, and I did 500 sq ft without a problem.

I think if and when I get to 3 batteries, I'll be able to go continuous with one on the charger, one in the holster, and one in the mower.

Honestly to me, the one lever height adjustment and quieter sound is worth the price of admission.

One one hand, I want to go quiet and convenient too. But the other hand is quite rowdy and enjoys engines, noise and making the dirt/grass fly.
