Hi Guys.

As a Brit living in Dallas, would like your advice on disease affecting my front lawn.

Are we looking at Brown Patch or Grubworm.....or something else and how do you treat?

Many thanks
Andrew

I cant tell one way or the other from the pics.
Try pulling up the turf in the damaged areas and look to see if there are active grubs causing the damage.

I'd throw down some Scotts funcicide along with GrubEx. Just to cover both possibilities

You've likely got dollar spot. It plagues st Augustine as does brown patch.

Two things you need to pay close attention for. First is do like another poster suggested and dig one of the patches up to make sure your problem isn't grub worms. I don't think it is but it's possible. Second you need to research take-all patch, which is basically a death sentence for a st Augustine yard. I am not suggesting you have take-all patch, but ANY time you have what appears to be a disease problem you need to be ultra vigilant of its progression because what appears to be a treatable disease can turn out to be take all and if you aren't watching it closely you won't be able to treat it when you figure out it's not dollar spot.
