So bummed. Mid September my lawn was about 10 days into germination and was looking really nice. For reference the last photo below is today, about 1 month after germination.

Then things started sliding from there. First I thought the dead patches were from lack of germination. As it got worse I blamed myself for not watering enough. Then I assumed disease due to the warmer temps (70s/80s) and high humidity (not normal in Northern Virginia this late in the year.

Was just doing some reading in this forum and stumbled on a discussion about webworms. Never thought that would be my issue because I've never had problems with them. But tried the dish soap and water soak in a couple small areas and had my answer. This is a bummer, everyone was admiring my new lawn, now its embarrassing.

I have Merit and Triazicide. Going to do a little research on which is best (or something else). Question, should I patch the dead areas or is there a chance the seed I put down will come up? About a week ago I spot seeded a bunch of areas.

The irony is I killed the whole front yard because I had a bunch of different grass types. Things were healthy, but just not consistant. So now I have a situation where the grass density won't be consistant since I'll need to spot seed.
