So comparison of my yard vs neighbors. My lawn is by far the greenest in the neighborhood.

Lots to do yet and plenty of room for improvement but just wanted to say thanks for the advice so far!

This is a good thing and bad...depending on how you look at it...now to scalp and get my reel mower going after this mess again!

That's my tifway 419 bermuda nothing else. The back yard is the best looking green, I have one side of the house that's still completely dormant, but the rest of the yard is greening up quick.

When we got our first cold spell back in Oct I put out some fert, let it grow up to about 1.75" and kept cutting it until it went dormant (which was like 1 to 2 more times). I haven't done anything to it since, other than applying princep and prodiamine prem. No fertilizer at all.

I personally think because of that my grass just has significantly more energy stored up going into the winter. When it finally got slightly warmer it came alive quicker.

I'm debating on when I want to scalp. Was going to wait until mid April to make sure we are safe from any cold snaps (froze last night) so I don't stunt the growth.

@kur1j I live in Huntsville too. My yard is partially greened but I scalped when we had that warm streak in February. Considering we had record high temps in mid February, I took a wager that we weren't going to have another frost, which normally would be very likely, and cut down to about an inch. I had also raised my cutting height going into fall.

What led you to do simazine? Did you use monument at all?

Yeah, my Celebration is nowhere near that green (also in Huntsville). I'd guess I'm somewhere around 30% green right now (e.g. for any given patch of yard, 1 out if 3 blades have greened up). I'd expect after the cold morning this weekend things green up really fast.

@Colonel K0rn Thanks! Ware over there cutting his 9th hole putting green, and Im over here extatic with my green, weed free yard! Couldn't have done it without the forums. So I owe it mostly to the community here for helping out so much!

@Movingshrub
I saw your profile! It's strange at how many (local and close to local) people there are on the forums.

Siamize has a different MOA than prodiamine. Someone had a post stating that they contacted UGA (I believe) asking what they recommend for prem and that's what they told them. I looked into it a little more and people agreed it was decent course of action.

Found it.

I was the one who referrenced UGA.

Did you get rid of the zoysia in the front?
Zoysia contamination would be the situation where Tenacity or Pylex is justified. Other time, is when there is resistant Goosegrass.
