Sedge outbreak

I had two areas on my lawn that had a good amount of Sedge that I sprayed with Sedgehammer a week ago and are now orange and wilting.Bur I have been noticing that there are random Sedges popping up all over the lawn and I also noticed it on neighbors lawns as well.Since they are popping up all over the place would it be better to just broadcast spray the whole lawn?

Also what is the cheapest way to kill them ?

Debateable as to the cheapest way to kill 'em, but I pray to Saint Pre-Emergent of Houston and believe he will do what is just and strike at the hearts of sedges, killinga, and crabgrass to prevent unholy germination.

That being said if Saint Pre-Emergent lets me down, it will take multiple applications of Sedgehammer or another product like Dismiss or Image. If you weaken the weeds, the summer heat will take care of the rest.

If you're wanting to be a little more protactive and have money to blow, grab some Pennant Magnum and spray er down.
Pennant Magnum is not perfect, but it will control yellow nutsedge germination. I've seen results after two years of application. You'll never get it all, and a thick lawn is the best way to keep it at bay, but there are pre-emergent options.
