I had two areas on my lawn that had a good amount of Sedge that I sprayed with Sedgehammer a week ago and are now orange and wilting.Bur I have been noticing that there are random Sedges popping up all over the lawn and I also noticed it on neighbors lawns as well.Since they are popping up all over the place would it be better to just broadcast spray the whole lawn?

Also what is the cheapest way to kill them ?

Debateable as to the cheapest way to kill 'em, but I pray to Saint Pre-Emergent of Houston and believe he will do what is just and strike at the hearts of sedges, killinga, and crabgrass to prevent unholy germination.

That being said if Saint Pre-Emergent lets me down, it will take multiple applications of Sedgehammer or another product like Dismiss or Image. If you weaken the weeds, the summer heat will take care of the rest.

If you're wanting to be a little more protactive and have money to blow, grab some Pennant Magnum and spray er down.

Pre emergent does nothing against sedges. It's an ongoing battle. You can paint them as they appear with small mixes (if you have sedgehammer or whatever on hand) or you can spray the individual plants periodically. I've never had it bad enough to broadcast spray. I have found that right after you spray, more sedges will quickly shoot up. Not sure if it's a response or coincidence. Whatever the case, best results are usually obtained when you follow label instructions exactly.

I'd say next time you spray, use plenty of tracker dye and leave some chemical mixed in your sprayer and hit the new sprouts a few days later. Heck maybe broadcast spray if you've got the chemicals. Always follow the label exactly as far as time before/after cutting and watering. It may also have directions on plant maturity as far as how many leaves on the sedge is too big / too small.
