I am planning on putting down 4 lbs / 1000 sq ft of Prodiamine using a broadcast spreader. Is it safe to also put down Scott's starter fertilizer with weed preventer (mesotrione) at label rate at the same time? I'm not planning on seeding, and my existing turf is ***, PRG, TTTF.

I'm trying to improve my turf without a full reno. Last year, I had some grassy weeds I'm having a hard time identifying. I hoping the tenacity in the Scotts starter will help getting rid of the undesirables. If it doesnt, I'll know to kill it in the fall with round up. That's my crazy mindset.

Tenacity controls some grassy weeds, but not all. I've used it against POA annua, but it is thru a foliar application (spray +nis). The Scott will be granualar and the intent is to prevent weeds from growing. Im not sure what the granualar will to to established grassy weeds.

The granular might light up the weeds to make it easier to spot and then you could spot paint them with round up. Since you have kbg, it will recover.

Ok so tenacity usually takes more than one app to kill the tough grassy weeds. If you apply it granularly it will kill some weeds like crabgrass and clover, but nowhere near 100%. Remember killing weeds you want a liquid spray, preventing weeds granular is fine.
