Driveway? Not if that driveway drains into a waterway. Everything is diluted and sprayed out. I avoid using the same place all the time to reduce chemical build up.

Hawaii Department of Health looks for pesticides in surface waters and ground water. They find anything that was previously registered, it is either gone or put on elevated restrictions. All curb drains and storm drains empty straight into existing streams that then go to the ocean. 3 years ago, I was at a meeting where Department of Health presented their findings to the Department of Agriculture. Glyphosate, Imidacloprid, and pyrethroid insecticides were found in their surface water sampling. There have been calls by the public to ban those products ever since.

Glad I don't live in occupied territory!

But on a serious note, I do believe in responsible conservation, however at least in my usage I don't feel that a half gallon of pre-m or other chemical dumped in my alley is going to cause much damage. I wouldn't dare let it run down the curb, but a low spot in my dirt alley is where mine goes.

Heck flora and fauna at Chernobyl recovered so my guess is the crabgrass and mosquito population in my alley is safe too! Not too concerned about my impact on the groundwater, farmers ruined that years ago in our area.

I am not excited about 1 part per million or billion of something that is sold with a caution label or bears almost zero oral toxicity. The 4% Atrazine liquid that everyone in the South uses for weed control in their warm season grass is illegal here. All because 1 part per million was found in ground water. Same is true of Simazine, which almost everyone on this forum orders from their nearby farm and feed store no questions asked. The source of that contamination, pineapple and sugarcane growers is long gone. Only remaining users of those products would be golf and turf people. Even then, I would be one of the few people in the state of Hawaii that know what those herbicides are and how they are to be used.
