Sky Cloud Plant Tree Land lot

After a long winter it’s time to get back after it. My turf came out of winter really well. Had a little time last night so cut the side yard with the Hudson Star. Will get the rest of the yard done this weekend. Also planning on planting a putting green with 007 here in a few weeks.

Got a plate compactor and went to town on the green in the 30 mph+ winds. I have some final grading to do tomorrow and will plant my bent Monday or Tuesday when the wind isn’t blowing.

Did you use a drop spreader to hopefully prevent bentgrass from ending up showing up in your kbg?

Also had the back core aerated yesterday. Raked up all the cores and put down 300 pounds of lime as my soil ph was low per my soil test. Front is still looking pretty good.

How much of your yard do you mow with the Hudson Star?

How long does that typically take you? I’ve got about a 10,000 sq ft reel mower section so trying to get an idea of the time required

Here is the progress of the 007 bent. It’s been 9 days since seed went down.

I am pumped! Do you recommend waiting the full 3 weeks from seeding date or should I play it by ear?

Just depends on the growth. All the recommended material says to cut once it's over 1/4 inch but you also don't want the mower to tear up the roots. I assume your small push mower will be better. I went straight on with the gm1000 since it said to roll and I didn't have the HOC adjusted high enough so there was a couple spots that pulled out since the bed knife dragged since the reel wasn't engaged. If I didn't do that then everything would have been fine.

Looking good! Any plans for when you are doing the first cut yet?
Shooting for later this week, or maybe over the weekend. Kind of depends on growth and rain. Can't wait to start cutting it.
