Will be looking for a new mower, no rush maybe into next season before I open my wallet.
What Im finding for used commercial units are well used and Im just not feeling it for a 3/4 acre lot
So Im leaning to a new "residential" unit. I figure if I kept my 1994 craftsman rider going all these years I can do the same with a zero turn.

I just dont know enough about the brands
JD, Toro, Ariens, Husqvarna and such?

Any input would be appreciated

I got the ego z6. 42" battery operated and I LOVE it. I'm at about 13,500 sq feet and am done in about 25 mins with about 50% battery remaining depending on the blade speed. I also have a mulching plug in and it does a great job mulching. It's worth considering. If you have a very sloped lawn, It may not be a great choice.

I have a Toro 75742 42". It starts/runs and cuts good but it rides like it doesn't have shocks or springs, very rough if you have lots of humps and bumps like I do. They have a 'my ride' version that is supposed to ride much nicer.
My old Scott's 1742 lawn tractor was a much smoother ride though the Toro does the yard in half the time.
The other 'issue' I have with the Toro is 1.5" is the lowest HOC, would prefer 1" to be able to scalp/reset.

How do you think it would do on a bumpy lawn? I have clay soil and so my lawn is really bumpy.

My lawn is fairly bumpy and clay as well. It's no worse than a regular lawn tractor and the seat is adjustable for a smoother or firmer ride depending on your preferences. Most importantly it cuts a nice lawn!

I’m a Scag guy, but for the money on a smaller residential unit it’s hard to beat Hustler. I would look at the Dash XD and go up from there depending on your budget or what features you want. The regular Dash has a Briggs engine, but going to the Dash XD(or above) gets you a Kawasaki. They all have welded fabricated decks as opposed to stamped. Dollar for dollar they seem much better built than the box store zero turns I see.

Anyone have experience with the BadBoy residential zero turns? Considering the Rambler 42” with the Koehler 22 hp engine. Frame and deck seem to be built more heavy duty than other options and I like that they’re built in the USA.
