I am getting ready to do a light seed on my back yard Reno this weekend. Here is a list of steps I will take. Please chime in if you see something I am missing or should think twice on.

1) Finish Grade as good as possible
2) Roll to compact to help see low or high spots
3) Grade rake area to loosen up soil, drop my VIP 3 way PRG, drop Scott's or equivalent starter fertilizer,
4) Roll again
5) Apply Tenacity at 5-8oz per ac rate to prevent unwanted species during establishing
6) Water
7) Set my Rachio to water 5 times a day for about 3-5 minutes per run to keep moist.

I agree with SNOWBOB on the addition of peat.

You can use Scott's starter with mesotrione if you want to skip liquid tenacity. Doing so will save some time, and, in my opinion, granular is safer with respect to application rate.

Yes, I knew I would leave something out. That is why I posted. Peat for sure. Regarding the Tenacity that is what the label reads for new seeding. But I will try the granular cocktail with starter and Mesotrione. Thank you for the double check!!

If you have in-ground irrigation set up on timer and running 5x a day, peat is a necessity. I usually skip the peat mainly because I've had success without it.
the peat is to keep the seed moist, so if I can keep moist with short multiple waters is peat a necessity? Just confirming

Be careful with the tenacity, from my experience ryegrass can be pretty finicky with it. I would do 4oz/A. 5oz/A is the max label rate for ryegrass
Got it! I did a 4oz rate out front to try and tackle some Poa spots I have. So a 4oz rate blanket coverage after seed is down, or just use Scott's starter with weed control, it's rate of M is .008%. Thoughts

I prefer to spray it but if you prefer granular that would kill 2 birds with one stone

Well I already have the Tenacity, so probably go that route.

Not a necessity, but as stated already, its a cheap insurance. I've never used peat, and have been successful with every renovation. I have a pretty long reno thread, in the other forum, detailing a reno from 2014.
