So i am about to move into a newly built house with freshly sodded bermuda and want to keep the lawn looking as nice as I can. So was looking at reel mowers and actually had a deal to buy an H27 tru-cut today but guy messaged me an hour before I was supposed to go pick it up to tell me he sold it to someone else.

Anyways I'm back to looking but now I've got this forum so figured i would see what people who actually knew what they were talking about(unlike me) thought was the best fit. Looking for something up to $1,000. Used but in reasonably good conditions. For example i am looking at a tru cut c27 that a guy an hour away is selling for $650. Just had it serviced and sharpened but its 18 years old. Not sure how old is too old but i feel like that is a long time for something like a mower to last.

Here are some pictures of what my yard looks like as of this morning so you can see any issues i might be dealing with that might push me into one machine vs another. Thanks

What a beautiful home! I can't comment on the value of old Tru-cuts since I went straight to a greensmower, but I agree I'd be tepid about spending $650 on something pushing 20 years old. Now, if it has been meticulously maintained, maybe it's worth that. What's a new C27 sell for? Used greensmowers are available in your price range and they are $10k machines new.

I ended up buying a Greens King 526A yesterday for fairly cheap. Works well although i need tons of practice to learn how to cut correctly with it. One thing is i feel like the front end is too light it bounces a bit. Gotta lift the back some to keep the front planted.

Could this be because i have the HOC as high as it will go? Everything seems to be in great working order. A bit rough visually but oh well this winter will take it all apart and clean and paint it all again to make it look new.

@Jimefam yes, probably because you have set at the highest, my California Trimmer is the same way. I know they are completely different machines but the balance get shifted to the back and makes the front lite when it's raised all the way up.
