I have an old McClane 5 blade reel. I also have 3 little boys who do wheels off things. A few months ago one of my boys who's 20 months old had taken like an old rusted bolt he had found, who knows where he found it, but he dropped it right in the middle of the yard into the grass which was pretty tall at the time. When I went to scalp at the beginning of the season, I hit this thing pretty good. It put knicks into 3 of the blades right in the middle of the reel. I've noticed the blade gets hung up on the bed knife in this spot whenever I go to do a paper cut check, and I'm having to backlap more often. Are knicks on the blade something you can work through? Is this a problem that will get better or worse?

Depending on the severity of the damage you could file it down backlap and continue mowing. The alternative is to have it spin ground and backlapped to remove the damage if it's not too bad. If it's bent or damage beyond thst you might need a new reel (doesn't sound like it though).
