Hello, I have a sprinkler head that doesn’t pop up high enough for the water to spray the grass. From the DD I’ve already researched, I think it’s a fairly easy fix to DIY. BUT .. I am not sure what kind of heads we have. I’m caring for my mothers home due to dementia. So I have no idea what individual components were used at install 20 years prior. But I’m trying to figure it out. I’m hoping to avoid digging up the head only to find out it wasn’t necessary to extend it. The heads are pop up with nothing visible at all while not spraying. I cant detect anything that feels like the Kap it adapter would attach to. I just feel a shaft the head retracts into. I don’t know if that’s enough info to help… but I took a few pics of a different head while it was spraying. Maybe that will help more. It goes without saying I have no idea what is below ground either. As far as pipe & attachments. Any help is appreciated in advance. Especially if you can save me from digging in this Arizona sun! And tell me which parts I need to raise one head up. TY! 😊

If you can't raise it, just measure how much it extends beyond the body when on and go to your favorite big box store and pick up one that is longer, they have them the rise 2,3,4,6, 12 or 24in. Simply unthread the whole sprinkler in the ground and thread in the new one and adjust the spray and adjust the height if needed when off so you don't hit with mower. The bodies are reasonable, about $5, some will even have a new 90 degree nozzle on it.

As to what brand, etc., clean the grass around the head about 1/2" or so. The cap will unscrew if you can get your fingers around it. The popup assembly will come out with the head cap. Should be details on the cap somewhere. The current body height is good - right about ground level - so you can mow right over it.

If you need more popup height, you'll have to replace the body with a taller one. Whether that will wok depends on how much space you have between the bottom of the new body and the supply pipe - there are a lot of different threaded adapters to connect them and some are " cut to length." If the head is supplied by a swivel arm flexible pipe, you'll wtill need to do some digging to relocate the new one. Not hard, just takes some time and a few extra trip to Home Depot the first time around.

Resurrecting an old thread in case this helps anyone else.
I just raised a half-dozen pop-ups that had sunken below grade over the years.
I used this adjustable riser extension.
Just pour water around the sprinkler and wait half an hour (keeps dirt around it from crumbling into the hole), then unscrew the cap from the sprinkler body, then unscrew the sprinkler body and remove it (this tool happens to fit in the sprinkler body perfectly and works as a wrench to get it out if you need one). Cut the riser to the desired length, screw the riser onto the body, then screw the body back down in place in the hole, and put the sprinkler cap back on. Quick and easy.
