I already have propiconazole on hand for treating the brown patch in the front lawn. It's started showing up in the back fenced in lawn and I would like to treat it. Problem is I have pets, six of them to be exact. The back lawn is currently the best it's been in years and I would like to keep that going. My biggest concern is 2 of my dogs are "grazers". Yes, they often wonder the back yard eating grass like cattle.

I use very little herbicide back there due to this. Usually I'll spot spray a few hours before rain just to keep them out of it but still try to keep it to a bare minimum. What are your thoughts on this? I have no irrigation so would the same thing work for the propiconazole? Do an app a few hours before we get a good rain. And would that even be effective on the brown patch? Any suggestions?

Conazoles are a large group of compounds which appear widely in fungicides used in both human and vetrinary medicine.
Mid High priced athletes foot spray has Miconazole as the ai. It also is given by mouth for systemic use.
I would not worry about it harming your dogs.

Well, that makes sense. The label states do not allow animals to graze on treated grass plus the safety precautions for applicators is outrageous. I think they try to make the stuff sound really bad. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the info!

I think I would do the Propiconazole after the rain not before it. I wouldn't want it to wash away. What does the label say on that issue. It is probably both topical and systemic. Edit: it is systemic so I would appy right after rain so it can dissolve in the moisture that is there and get taken up without getting washed away.

At this point we have rain settling in. Forecast is for somewhere around 4 to 6 inches of rain between now and Thursday so it looks like nothing is going down for at least a week, maybe longer depending on how long it takes the lawn to dry out some. I have done Propiconazole apps in the front lawn within a few hours of rain and it seemed to still work. With a couple dogs that eat grass pretty regular I just didn't want anything on the blades that could harm them. Not really concerned about the quality of the back lawn either. Just need something to help prevent mud. Thanks for all the input.
