Going to be overseeding/renovating my lawn (zone 4a) on Labor Day weekend. I currently have mostly annual ryegrass that was put down this spring after regrading the lawn. I'll be putting down TCS Blue Resilience seed after scalping and scarifying. I have T-Nex PGR and Torocity (mesotrione) for application with a backpack sprayer. I'm planning to apply the PGR a few days before seeding and the meso immediately after.
However, I think it would be helpful to do an initial application now. The annual ryegrass grows like crazy (mowing twice a week, still taking off way too much and clogging my mower) and I'd like to slow it down. I'd also like to get some meso on the existing weeds to help kill them off before I start seeding.
What should I apply first: PGR or herbicide? I can do the other one this weekend and then work on getting the cut height down.
