I believe I have some powdery mildew in my lawn. Mostly in some areas where it gets some shade, areas like next to my neighbors fence with some mature pine trees that block out a lot of the sun for, I bet half the day and around my front yard tree. I have not been able to locate it anywhere else. I remember this issue from last year by the fence.

I tried to do some research on it and I have read articles and watched youtube and it's either "don't worry about it" to "it is one of the more severe fungi (sp?) a lawn can have - treat it now!".

It is something I should be taking care? Primarily KBG.

(I did a search on this forum, most of "powdery mildew" was jokes about snow! )

My Bewitched gets a pretty severe case of powdery mildew in a couple areas that are heavily shaded and remain moist for most of the day just from dew. I've noticed it spreads extremely rapidly, and it's ugly and messy (looks like I'm mowing over chalk dust). Three or four apps of Serenade plus warmer temps have all but eradicated it this year. I also recently lowered the HOC from 3.5" to 2.5".

I grew some Bewitched in pots last summer before my fall reno, and they got severe powdery mildew as well. I didn't treat it, and it ended up killing most of the pots after a few weeks. So, my recommendation is to treat it ASAP and adopt a proactive biofungicide regimen.

Feed it some N and it should grow out of it on its own. PM is probably the most mild disease a lawn can have. Other than Nitrogen you can try opening up the area to get more sunlight and ventilation if there's vegetation that can be removed. I wouldn't waste fungicides on this unless it's out of control really bad.
