So my Saint Augustine lawn is looking really nice. Green all around in the front and back and I was able to clear out a Oxalis weed problem in the front yard but now I'm noticing something in the back yard. There is a square foot patch of what looks like weeds, but it really looks like my Saint Augustine grass. I figured it could be weeds a while ago but then saw that they had roots resembling stolons so I just figured they were a less mature or in the process of growing into larger stalons. However, now I am thinking it is a patch of weeds since the blades look thinner and smaller and they haven't really gotten bigger. I'm going to assume they are weeds since that is what my gut tells me and the other stolons in my yard are thicker with bigger blades.
So my question is, would you just pull out the square foot patch of weeds all at once and hope the saint augustine grass spreads over it, which it should since I have had patches before and they have regrown. Or would you pull out the weeds little by little to not create a patch in the yard and hope the saint augustine fills in the small patches each time I pull. Any other recommendations? I don't feel the need to post a picture of the weeds because I really just think they are weeds so I don't really need a confirmation of that. Just trying to get the best solution to the problem. Any recommendations?
