Hi all!

Just had a few questions in regards to products for poa A control before I order from seed world as
Im completely new to pre emergents

Debating whether I should overseed this fall along with tenacity at seed down and 30 days later.
Then prodiamine/dimension right after followed by a spring app.
OR
Nitro blitz and focus on just pre em.

- what's the difference between Dimension and Prodiamine? Currently considering https://www.seedworldusa.com/products/prodiamine-65wdg-herbicide-guardrail-barricade-crabgrass-control-5-lbs
For price and shipping cost (Canada)

- any effect on new grass from tenacity and prodiamine /dimension? In particular any root issues?

- recommendations for a surfactant to purchase for use with both pre em and tenacity (if its needed?)

- any other products I need for this plan?

Any feedback would be appreciated!
Cheers!

Prodiamine is a pre-em only. Dimension (dithiopyr) is a pre and post-em.

I ordered the granular dimension from seed world. For surfactant I got the Southern AG. Along with tenacity.

Word of advice. If you are going to order from them, get the blue marking dye. If you're already paying for shipping, get as much as you can afford. Especially since it is impossible to source locally. I made the mistake of not getting any!

FYI, you'll get a call from UPS when it hits the border to arrange payment for the duties. Mine were only about $17.

Good morning, G!

Don't let the mention of just one state in the title "throw" you; much of the info in this article is priceless AND ESPECIALLY see Tables 1, 2 and 3 in reference to your first question.

Weed Control Options for Residential Lawns ...: https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1774&context=extension_curall

It's great your asking these questions in advance; I applied Tenacity and then Lesco Pre-M (Pendimethalin) at the right times for my zone this year but, still got slammed (literally!)with goosegrass this year. "Befuddled" doesn't go far enough describing my confusion. Then, fellow TLF member "greendoc" explained how Pendimethalin, despite it effectiveness on so many weeds, is not the best choice for (and in my instance allowed major "slip through" of) goosegrass. And, my tendency to go with the lightest app. rates listed, in this instance, also compounded my problem(s).

The learning goes on!

@Grasshopper I plan on doing a similar program this Fall. Seed + Tenacity + Starter Fert. Tenacity 30 days later and Dimension when safe. I'm hoping the weather holds up so can do some part of the Fall N blitz as well.

I plan on using a PRG blend from a Landscape supply store in Georgetown.

This is the Dimension I got - https://www.seedworldusa.com/products/dimension-0-25g-herbicide-25-lbs

Here is the Surfactant - https://www.seedworldusa.com/products/southern-ag-surfactant-for-herbicides-1-pint

This is the Spray Indicator I SHOULD have bought! - https://www.seedworldusa.com/products/turf-mark-spray-indicator-1-qt

Overall my backyard looks really good, but I do have a few bare spots and some thin areas that I would like to thicken up.

Couple things. Dimension is for all intensive purposes a pre e. It has very limited post e effectiveness.

I believe it's recommended to wait 60 days after planting new grass to apply dimension or prodiamine.

Remember if you are using tenacity it's no surfactant at seed down. Surfactant is used only for post e apps.

I see you have a mix lawn with fescue. If you choose to go heavy with N this fall keep in mind ff does not particularly like heavy N. The KBG and rye will do fine but not the fescue.

If you don't want to be charged duty choose to ship by usps at checkout.

Hey from what i understand, Canada has a pesticides act that prohibits importing of Pre and Post emergents as well as any Fungicides and even Fertilizer (Milorganite). Please if you guys know of a loophole through SeedWorld USA let me in on the info! I would love to order some Ironite as well as some Sedgehammer!

Thanks for all the input fellas! Much appreciated

Waiting for an order and look forward to learning and adding a new "dimension" (sorry...) to my lawn care.

Will be overseeding with pr/kbg with tenacity at seed and 4 weeks later followed by dimension at 60 days.

Just a few more questions...

-how is tenacitys ability to "suppress" poa?

-when's the best time to apply tenacity during overseeding?

-does this dimension have to be applied as granular or can it be mixed and sprayed?
https://www.seedworldusa.com/products/dimension-0-25g-herbicide-25-lbs

-Fellow Canadians (Toronto) when in fall do you generally apply pre em? Will a mid August tenacity app at over seed down be late? A bit worried by the amount of thunderstorms forecast maybe delaying to late August may be wise?

Cheers!
