Ok, my lawn made it through the winter. It did not go dormant and stayed green the whole time.

I did get some moss in the front yard that I need to kill but overall it did great!

back yard which was a renovation did great as well. First now was yesterday and they both look fantastic.

trying to figure out the fertilizer and the pre emergent. Do I start feeding it? I believe the back needs .25 N a week since it’s a new lawn. How long do I do that before I go to every other week then to monthly? Do I N it all summer?

will figure out my fungicide rotation as well as herbicide. I want to have these lawns looks good all summer!

here is a link to my old posts just for reference. https://www.thelawnforum.com/thread...nd-new-yard.52513/page-2?post_id=653787&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-653787

Looking beautiful! I'm doing 0.25lb N/1k weekly with AMS on my renovation ...and cutting every 3 days! I'm not sure how long to go or what the total spring N goal should be... .

I'm doing 0.5lbN with 46-0-0 on my overseed every 2 weeks. Not sure what the total should be back there either...

Put down some lime today at 5lb per 1k/sq ft.
Will fertilize this weekend.
Have some different grass growing in the yard. Is it Bermuda grass? Is so, what’s the best way to get rid of it? Kentucky blue grass?

I also need to figure out something to do landscaping wise to hide the stupid septic tank lids. I’m thinking a 1’ circle around both and a plant in the middle?
Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated!

My back yard that I Reno this summer has a lot of bare spots. I’m going to start spoon feeding it but I might rough up the ground and drop some seed in a month if it hasn’t gotten filled in anymore. All in all it looks great but I don’t like the bare spots from the deer eating it.

Mowed again today. I did .5 oz prodamine per 1k sq ft on the back lawn after I realized the front I did .15oz per 1k sq ft. I ran out so I’ll need to order more.

does anyone buy the granule and use those or does everyone put it into a sprayer?

I am wondering if I need to thatch the front as there is some discoloration and appears to be clumping.

back lawn has a lot of bare spots. Going to try to fertilize (spoon feed .25 per week for the next month and see if it fills in. If not I’ll cut real short and over seed.

opinions and thoughts are welcomed as I would like to get better at this!

It looks beautiful! I love green spring grass. :) For bare spots do you mean like in the second picture above where it's like a little "polka dotted"?

I always have to put an "I'm no expert" but I think those will probably get smaller as the individual grass plants get bigger. I know fescue doesn't spread but if you think about how many individual plants of grass are there and each one starts with just one blade of grass then gets bigger and bigger.... If you have a "hole" surrounded by plants and they all double or triple in circumference.. They'll probably mostly fill the hole. I feel like that's how mine has filled in some of the thinner areas.

I had one area in my renovation at the front corner near the garage that was thin from the start. Some of the seed washed into uneven lines shortly after I put it down. That area is almost completely full now because even though it was thinner by comparison, what was still there got "bigger" and filled it in.

I sort of look at thin or bare areas and ask "if all the clumps around this spot double in size, will this spot disappear?"

I attempted a comparison picture. The top is from a couple days ago.The bottom is from fall. You can still see it's "dimpled" but there's almost no dirt showing there now. The one hole near the sprinkler head in the bottom picture might still be a small hole (the top picture cuts off just above it)

Anyway, I'll stop blathering on. That's my unprofessional 2 cents. lol

Haha, I appreciate it.

I’m hopeful it will start to grow. I know the deer did not do me any good eating the grass. They are pretty bare. I’m thinking with the spoon feeding it will help.

Well tonight I put down .25lb per 1k sq ft of N on the new lawn. Why doing that I found this son of a gun! I have a mole!!! Bought a trap and will try to catch it. I have a ton in my field but they had not made it to my lawns until now. That was super frustrating.

I went to turn on my sprinklers and the hose bib timers all exploded over the winter so I had to order those too. Good thing it’s cloudy tomorrow and raining Sunday so I’m not concerned of burning the grass.

I also got the 2.25 acres mowed

Well I think I put my prodamine down too late. These suckers are popping up all over the place!
The mole dug another spot. I’ve been reading and it says grubs could play a role in the mole activity so I’ll put down some grubex this weekend.
Also need to spray and fertilize again a spoon feeding of .25/1ksqft.

is it too much to do all three in a weekend?

Got the fence/gate done today and cut the posts down. Turned out pretty good. Raining off and on so I did not fertilize or spray.

got a mow in on both yards last night!

I ended up spraying tonight for the clover that’s forming.

found this brown patch, it appears to be all but dead. Any ideas? Nowhere else is the lawn just this small circle.

Got the sprinklers all turned on and ready to go. Watered each yard for 5 min. It’s growing a lot but turned a little off green with all the sun even though it hasn’t been real warm.

It will be interesting to see if the grubex helps with the mole issue. I am getting a new hole every other day probably.

the birds are in my lawn ALL day everyday as well so I am thinking I have something under the grass.

Stupid Mole was at it again, I have another mound. I stuffed a sonar repellent down there. Waiting for the poison worms from Amazon.

Sprinklers are all fixed and ready to go. I will do an audit tomorrow running each zone for 7min so I can figure out how much water that puts down.

spent a few hours trying to fix the electrical to the pool. Got super irritated and quit! The wire is not very long to the box which is making it really hard. I’ll fix Wednesday or Thursday. I need to empty it to put the new liner in there.

I hate moles! I currently don't have any in my main front or back yard but there are at least one or 2 in the 2 yards next to me. In the back it's staying along the fence line and mostly in the other guy's yard. In the front it's tearing up the front driveway side yard. I had the trap out for a few days but I haven't been putting enough effort into it to get anything.

I'm going to freak out if it comes across the driveway. I got one in the renovation last year before it was time to seed. I need to focus on getting these ones before they start infiltrating further into the yard.

I've had decent success with the plunger style trap. (I call it Mr. Stabby) I didn't have any luck with the worms last year. I also bought 2 of the traps that go in the tunnels and one of the scissor trap ones.

The issue out front is the Bermudagrass. It really seems to make it impossible to use the stabby trap. It worked fine in the back where it's mostly Fescue but when I tried it in the front pre-renovation it just doesn't seem to be able to penetrate deep enough to get them.

Last year I actually caught the mole while it was digging. You've been following so you probably saw that. 😂

I know I look crazy out there just pacing and staring at the ground but I feel like I might have to do that again to get the current offenders. I'm hoping one of the neighbors will poison them...

I’m hoping the poison will work. It keeps digging in the same area so hopefully it will be easy to remove.

I remember you posting about it and it keeping you up at night! Hopefully yours stays in the neighbors yard!
