Last season was my first summer with a greens mower and it made a huge difference. So much that one of my neighbors picked one up himself. Unfortunately his yard has several slopes so he had a difficult time with it. On top of that towards the end of the season it ran for a few minutes and then just shut off.

He got tired of dealing with it so went with a smaller Craftsman model instead of the monster the GM1000 is. Since he longer wanted it taking up space he decided to give it to me!

So it doesn't run and as you can see it's an older model but it is essentially the same unit I have.

He had the reel sharpened and bedknife replaced which is something I was going to do soon with mine. So the question is, do I use this for parts? Fix it and sell it? Use it for something else?

What do you guys recommend?

I would say fix it and sell it if you don't need it and you don't have any money into it.

I like the idea of cleaning the carb/getting it running, and keeping it, if you have room. Then, when you have a problem with one in mid-June, you aren't in a panic while your Bermuda is growing to the sky. You could also use it as a scalp/beater unit.

Yeah I have plenty of room. I'll probably take parts off of this one to freshen mine up and then try to fix this one for a backup. Never thought I'd have two of these beats in my storage room though :)

Just another thought, if i had a 2nd greensmower kicking around, I'd strongly consider converting it to a verticut unit unless you have a groomer on the primary. And even then......
