Perennial ryegrass in Cincinnati

Overseeding, Renovating an area, and filling in bare spots with perennial ryegrass. The more I been reading the more I'm beginning to worry about the durability of the ryegrass surviving the winter and especially the summer. Anyone have any advice and info on how well perennial ryegrass holds up in Cincinnati Ohio?

Perennial Rye survives the winters just fine here in upstate NY, and we get a few -15F days in the winter. It does brown out pretty good in the summer, which I'm assuming is cooler than Cincy. But it will survive just fine. PRG is added to a lot of mixes because it is very wear tolerant.

Can you add some TTTF seed over it? The mix should help stay greener all summer. I don't think the perennial rye is going to be a disaster or anything like that.

Ok thanks for the reassurance. I used all rye for the Reno area and front and a mix of tttf and the rye in the backyard overseeding. I wanted to use just 1 type for the Reno to test and judge how I like it and being able to know that's what it is versus being mixed. Plus it's on a hill side so I wanted fast germination to eliminate risk of washout runoff

- in the heat of the summer I will just try to get the sprinkler out in the mornings during hot dry spells
