I'm in the middle of a lawn renovation and my mower died over the weekend. I'm working with 11,000 sq.ft, and I have killed everything. My plan for this past weekend was to scalp the yard, well that didn't happen.

Any advice on how to get this dead grass up? I would like to have seed down this coming weekend. After this weekend, life gets very busy and not sure when I can get the work completed. I will also will be slit seeding.

Would a power rake work?
Any recommendations for a mower?

- Thanks

I've always been a fan of the Honda mowers. Ive used a Honda HRX217, and own an HRR216. Some people have reported poor suction, so it may not be the best option for you.

Are you sure the old mower doesn't just need a little TLC?

Im also interested in this.

Even after scalping my yard on the lowest setting there is what i would consider a lot of grass still there, mostly because its fescue that has bent over. Ive tried raking it but even at 1k sqft it will take forever.

I thought about renting a dethatcher and running that over it? Could possibly work for you as well? Depending on how tall your grass is.

Mower is gone. Needs a motor. I'm looking at a Toro TImecutter, but the soonest I could get one would be later in the month.
Food for thought, as I have no clue what a timecutter costs, but Toro has some pretty decent financing deals going on right now that you may qualify for, which may help it happen sooner rather than later. I'm actually looking into Toro irrigation to see if it qualifies for their special financing

I have 8k and it takes 35-40 min, if you don't want to spring for a ZTR but want a bigger push mower, for $1000 you can get the Timemaster. I really wanted it, but needed something the wife was capable of using in the case that I need her to mow

Plus, I've heard the Timemaster isn't great at mulching...
