North Carolina pre-emergent timing

I'm in Atlanta and we've had a bit of a warmer February than normal, but even with the cooling off we're seeing the time for pre-emergent is pretty much now. Just remember that this application is for weeds that are going to become visible over the next 2-3 months Anything that is 'poking through' right now is what germinated in Oct/Nov, which is what your fall PreEm application is meant to prevent. At this point a blanked spray of PostEm will clean that up, and your PreEm is for the next round of potential weeds.

As for the lawn food question.. unless you fed the turf heavily in the fall a little bit of wake-up nutrition is well served. 1/2#N over the next 6 weeks is more than enough, usually.
