Hello everyone, three years ago I stated my yard renovation. Living in southern Virginia, we have hot summers and short and cooler winters. I decided to go with zoysia grass, Meyer Z-52 who I purchased 50 pieces of sod from http://www1.zoysiafarms.com/amastory.jsp that was pre-cut into 1 x 1 inch plugs. I planted all these plugs by hand, using a 2 inch wide auger bit that was 3 ft long also from http://www1.zoysiafarms.com/prodspec.jsp?id=4C83&cat=10 to drill a small hole. (this bit fits inside a cordless drill) The front yard is going into its third full going season and is doing great. The front yard was doing so well that I was finally able to pull plugs and start on the backyard. This Plugger tool is a must have if your big into caring for your yard. http://www.proplugger.com/landscape-plugger/5-in-1-xl-landscape-plugger-xl-edition

I didn't want to spend an insane amount of money sodding my yard, and I didn't mind watching how my yard changed. Watching the progress was pretty cool, and I take a ton of pride on how it looks.
I think like a lot of us, controlling weeds is a huge issue. I just sprayed Sledge Ended to help knock out and prevent future weeds. My backyard was starting to get taken by Winter Weeds so I had to act before it got any worse, hopefully the Zoysia plugs will overtake the weeds pretty fast.

Here are some pictures of my yard renovation journey, hopefully the backyard turns out just as good as the front.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, or suggestions on how I could improve my yard.

Sincerely,

Nathan Koehn

You have made this same post about 4 times in inappropriate places, so I deleted those and created this new thread just for you.
I didn't think it was inappropriate... but ok.

If you created this new thread, it wont be seen correct? I like this site but removing my post was uncalled for. The posts that were by accident I can understand but that was a little harsh don't you think? It was a harmless mistake.

You posted this in the TLF Spring Giveaway thread and another member's lawn journal thread, and at least one of those was a double post. It's all good though - welcome back.

Yes sir, the main part in the back was plugged last July, early July. I had a few other friends come over and we got half the yard done in one day. I did make a mistake by not adding more crab grass/annual blue grass pre-emergent in last summer and early fall. This winter and early spring I had a bad outbreak of annual blue grass but I got it under control with two applications of Celsius. I'm hoping this summer/fall that back will fill in for the most part and I can actually have a yard again. Every two weeks I'm spraying Miracle-Gro Water Soluble All Purpose Plant Food 1.5lb with Nitrogen-Phosphorous-Potassium Content of 24-8-16 and it worked wonder for the front filling in.

Pluger to pull the plugs out and a 30" long auger bit 2" wide to drill the holes, that made it so much easier and faster!

http://www1.zoysiafarms.com/prodspec.jsp?id=4C83&cat=10

and the Plugs I originally got the 1 x 1 and I got two shipments of 2000 plugs planted 6" apart.
