After discovered last spring I had a nice big area loaded with triv grass. After pulling out all of it I sprayed gly in the whole section going out a extra two feet. Kept watering and spraying gly on anything that sprouted. Mid July killed off the whole section and put down 4 year old free Scotts North East mix thinking I'll get some germination just to hold the soil and have something green. This spring a lite dose of fertilizer and pre M looked decent at best. Sprayed gly and killed off the triv section around late may didn't seem like much triv came back and kept killing anything that popped up. Two weeks ago I killed off the entire front lawn for a full renovation. This weekend I lowered the cut and I'll keep watering to get any triv or weeds to sprout. It's a small front lawn about 1000 SQ feet no sprinkler system but a oscillating sprinkler covers the whole area. Any help suggestions appreciated.#1 picture seed I will be using#2 kill I did this spring#3triv I found few weeks ago growing in bed #4/5 section of triv grass I pulled out then sprayed gly a few feet out last late spring#6 extended front bed out about 2ft because finding triv grass there and always in shade until end of day

Yesterday late morning picked up 2 bails peat moss and 5 bags top soil . De thatched again to try and remove more thatch and loosen up the soil. Hand racked
up all the debris and threw in the towel hungover from a graduation party that I planned on just having a few beers until my friend took out a half gallon of Glenlivet. This morning I sprayed another application of gly and extended the other bed out. Spread out 3 pounds of seed. Applied Scotts starter fertilizer and tossed around 2 bails peat moss and started watering with a old oscillating sprinkler. Fingers crossed got a early jump in case of a washout and giving the KBG plenty of time to germinate and establish

Just got hammered with a 5 minute extremely heavy downpour of rain did a quick look at the damage in the dark with house lights on. Need temporary extend one gutter that's washing it out and definitely need to add more seed just need to check extended forecast before more seed don't want to add again two days later

I have some peat moss washout from the gutter filling the bed of bushes and over flowing on to the lawn. I put a extension on the gutter I had in the garage temporarily until full germination. I will add more seed and peat moss probably Sunday when the storm threats are over.

Doesn’t look terrible to me. Looks like a great start to your reno. Maybe give it a bit of time until you see germination in other areas and access whether you want to add more seed. Did you roll you seed in by any chance? That seems to help it stay in place much better in my experience

Thanks for the encouragement. I didn't technically roll it but did step down on it with my feet and had the 3 kids next door help a trade off to let them swim I'm my pool for the day. I'm hopeful it's not that bad of a washout . Over dinner my wife told me there's birds all over the front lawn all day long it's so nice to see 😂

Added a little seed to the bare and thin areas. I have moss growth in the house shade area at this point I'm not even watering that area but the wind blows the sprinkler water there so it is what it is. That area gets sun about 2 pm until sundown

Staying the course just watering and wondering if it's a failure KBG does this. It's at the pout stage I'm thinking nothing really happening but the PRG is getting a little long. I been watering at 5:30 am about 10 minutes then around 3:30 when I get home and again around 6pm. I think I'm at the a little fertilizer time I have organic fertilizer that's a no also Scotts fall fertilizer and Scotts starter with tenacity added. I'm thinking Scotts fall half bag rate any thoughts or guidance appreciate

First cut only because the shaded area in front of the bushes was really high about 3 inches. That area is the fullest I killed that area early spring that is the area that was infested with triv grass. I have decent germination a few areas ok at best one area picture attached really not good. Seems drier then other areas. At this point I'm going to try and just hand water areas that need it after 3 pm and just use sprinkler at 5 am about 10mins the whole lawn. Heat wave high humidity this whole week coming.

Hoping to get a cut and some pictures to post tomorrow busy weekend. Weed pressure is high would like to drop some fertilizer also. Can I put down another dose of Scott's starter with mes or regular Scotts turf builder my friend dropped off?

#20 ·
Mesotrione should be safe once it's been cut twice. But not while it's still germinating.

thanks for the reply greatly appreciated. I'm at 4 weeks since I added more seed I will hold off on the starter fertilizer and drop Scotts turf builder at half bag rate I'm hoping for more KBG germination but also want to push some growth n spread. Chance of downpour today will hold off to the threats pass

Went away to Atlantic City from Friday morning returned home early today. Had dinner in AC at Cafe 2825 highly recommend probably one of the best Italian restaurants I ever had the pleasure to dine in. I watered Friday morning before I left wish I had the time to cut it but didn't happen. I will cut today and go half bag rate of Scott's turf builder and expecting rain tomorrow. Looks great in most areas horrible in others. Half the hell strip is covered in weeds with some germination and small area weak germination. I might drop more seed once again in these weak areas. Weed pressure is high

I mowed the front yard bagging. Aerated the one little area with zero germination and added more seed to it covered with peat moss. Put Scott's turf builder at half bag rate and hand watered. Will hand pick the big weeds tomorrow after the expected rain I tried one it's pulling out the baby grass with it. I will say Scotts starter triple action did zero to stop any weeds from germinating

Mowed the renovation again trying to mow every other day to get it to tiller. 3/4 inch of rain yesterday nice long soak after fertilizer application.
