We just moved into a new house and I planted the lawn myself. I got some topsoil hauled in and spread around, but I never got around to planting grass for a few months. I ran over top of it a lot with a backhoe and dozer, packing it in pretty solid. When I finally got around to planting, I ran a York rake over it to try and loosen it up, put down some lime, fertilizer, and then seeded. It took a couple weeks before a saw anything. We’re now 4 weeks into it and it’s growing in very patchy. Someone said they think the soil was too compacted and I should have had a Harley rake or something loosen it up. I didn’t have that kind of money to hire someone or rent one. My question is: Should I scrap the whole thing and start over? Or is there a way I can just overseed the areas that aren’t growing? I’m very new to this. Thanks for any help in advance!
