Newbie to spraying - what's the most convenient option to start with?

Hi all,

I've managed to use ready-made sprays, and granulars for my lawncare, NOW, just got some tenacity to kill off weeds after overseeding. I have about 1800sq feet of lawn across back/front/side.

What's the best newbie sprayer option to get for my use? I want it to be as easy as possible, not to fiddle with adapters, etc... and not to worry too much about washing, contamination, etc... my possible next spraying, might be quinclorac, but don't plan anything else (lawn feeding, etc...) for at least this season.

Should I just get a hose sprayer? or a pump one? or just splurge on an electric one ($70 or so).

Thanks

lol - man you are thorough!

Are you going to spray anything corrosive? Brass tips and bleach do not go together.
LOL... I guess, well, I already returned one, so wanna do this right the second time around. As I've said earlier, there were battery sprayers for $85 by Scotts/Smith, etc..., but folks moved me towards sprayers plus, and it having "brass wand" which I don't know the benefit of. It sure looks like a better made, more professional model, is it worth the extra cost? The Scotts has 20PSI pressure, Sprayers Plus 30PSI... does that make a difference?

Anyhow, I guess just gotto buy one and see... :cautious:

Hi all,

Just asking one last question, what is the benefit of BRASS wand on Sprayers Plus YT25E vs. cheaper version with fibre glass wand? Would the brass last longer? would handle chemicals better? What exactly is better?

So, now I also found a Petra Tools sprayers too.

PetraTools Battery Powered Sprayer, Electric Sprayers in Lawn and Garden with Easy-to-Carry Strap, Weed Sprayer, Electric Sprayer & Yard Sprayer with Ultra Long-Lasting Battery Life, 2-Gallon HD2000-S Amazon.com

now, not sure which option is best?

Sprayers plus YT25E ($135) or FT25E ($99)
Smiths battery sprayer $85
Petra Tools HD2000 $119

which would be most reliable?! I’m reading some bad feedback about customer support from sprayers plus. But I always find negative reviews outnumber good ones due to its nature.

For any blanket spraying over 1k sqft, I'd go with a 2-gallon. If you were just spot spraying MAYBE a one gallon would suffice.

If have this Chapin model and it works just fine.
Thanks. Definitely needed 2 gallons. Used the basic Chapon model which was ok but too short ofa wand, and too cheap for my liking. Hence I’m looking at an electric one instead.

Hard to pass on one of the OG sprayers for just $30-50 more than what you're linking to. The brass wand alone would be worth the extra $. I would prefer this shoulder style vs the handheld ones, and the pump should be much better than the ones you're linking too. I haven't owned either personally but if this was me I'd go with the Sprayer Plus. Buy direct (Free shipping with coupon code GOELECTRIC) for warranty support. Or opt for the FH25E for $99 if you don't care for the brass wand: Sprayer Plus FH25E Portable Electric Battery Powered Sprayer

The other option I'd consider is the 2.5-gal Spraymate. They were selling refurb ones direct for less than $100 but I think you'll find new ones online for about $130-150.

Thanks but isn’t the smith metal wand as well (not brass). Why do you think these are better quality. Interestingly the $99 one seems to use the same battery I have for my Bosch 12V drills.

So, I got a 2 Gallon Chapin sprayer, and it's just not great! It did work OK.... but the wand is way too short, and the nozzle is crap and it's all plastic, so I won't be keeping it.

Hence, I am now looking at a battery powered one, and it looks like the SAME company makes them for multiple brands, and they only difference is nozzle?! So, which of the following has the best nozzle/features to get?

Amazon.com : Scotts 190567 Lithium-Ion Battery Powered Pump Zero Technology Sprayer, 2-Gallon : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Amazon.com : Field King 190571 Lithium-Ion Battery Powered Pump Zero Technology Sprayer, 2-Gal, White : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Amazon.com : Smith Multi-Use Sprayer, Powered, 7.2V Li-Ion, 2 Gallon, 190671 : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Amazon.com : Husqvarna 598967601 Battery Sprayer, 2 Gallon, White : Patio, Lawn & Garden

I recommend getting a battery 4-gallon backpack sprayer. Even with 2 gallons of carrier, you would be able to do your entire lawn with one mix. I like the My4Sons battery version but there are other good ones out there as well.
thanks. Way too much for me. How are these things?

Scotts 190567 Lithium-Ion Battery Powered Pump Zero Technology Sprayer, 2-Gallon https://a.co/d/1DeFaqN

Or this even?
Battery Powered Sprayer and Pump Sprayer (Dual Function) for Lawn and Garden with Rechargeable Lithium Ion Power Bank and Shoulder Strap (1.3 Gallon) https://a.co/d/gq8JZTp

This one looks very much like the Scott’s but half price. Is DeWalt any good?
