Mulching Blades or High Lift?

I have a JD X350 rotary mower that has the mulch baffle and blades. Do mulching blades provide a good quality cut compared to reguar blades or high lift? Also, should mulching blades be sharpened?

I have a JD D Series and have 4 sets of blades. 2 Mulch, 2 High Lift/bagging blades. All get sharpened every offseason unless they weren't used. Last year I had to mulch the majority of the year due to fungus issues.

I don't notice a difference in cut quality between the two types of blades. I generally pull a few grass blades after each mow to check cut quality. See if it is time for a swap and make sure my there isn't anything starting to show on the grass that isn't evident yet.

Mulching blades will give you a quality cut as long as the grass isn't to long or wet, try to follow the 1/3 rule. Mulching blades can be sharpened and with your mulching kit you have your option to mulch or side discharge. I have the x370 and was considering adding the mulch kit to mine, how do you like yours?

I really like the mulching setup and it totally makes sense to mulch. I think I'm going to buy another set of mulching blades so I can have one set sharp at all times. I typically mow every 5-7 days so I usually never cut more than a 1/3rd.
