Mowing my annual rye overseed with a -gasp- lawn tractor.

So now that my ARG overseed is off and running, mowing this stuff has been both interesting and frustrating! Even if I'm cutting at 3 in the afternoon with no rain/water for days, this stuff sticks to the machine and clumps up into mush like I'm mowing in standing water! I doubt this would be an issue if I had a reel but do any of you guys have some experience mowing this stuff with a rotary? I have to run the sweeper over the lawn when I'm done to pick up the clumps.

The mower setup worked perfectly on the Bermuda and my old KBG lawn up north. JD LT180/48C.

The reason why I don't like annual rye grass. Annual rye grass is real messy from my experience. It seems to stain everything and grows super fast. Perennial rye grass is a lot more manageable. Slower grower, not as wet. Good luck, but other than killing it off, I'm not sure I have a solution for you.

Hmmm. No worries, I just was curious if others have had a similar experience with the stuff. I'd also be interested to hear if it's messy with a reel mower too or if that solves the mush problem. I would think it would get significantly better.
Here's a perennial mowed with a reel. A pain to mow when it rained. ARG is worse
