I overseeded last Sunday with TTTF and put down starter fert and Milo. The lowest my mower would go was 2" so thats where I started. Nearly a week later I have no sign of germination (read it takes up to 2 weeks for TTTF) so thats expected. My mower also only reaches a max HOC of 3". After plenty of watering, I'd say the grass is right at 3" right now. Should I go ahead and mow before germination happens? I know the seedlings may be being shadowed. and should I return the clippings or bag them up? Thanks.

Hard to say, but my 7am non caffeinated guess would be you can. You may not be able to see it because of the existing growth, but any seeds that were in contact with the soil and sufficiently watered should have at least anchored themselves by now.

Mow it at the high setting.

Try to avoid making hard turns or changing directions on the grass. Turn around on a driveway or sidewalk as much as possible.

Leave the clippings.

I mowed 6 days after seed down with KBG and everything is fine.

If no germination, keep mowing at 2in. I would continue it at 2in but being careful with the turns and change your pattern. If there is a lot of grow, then bag to avoid covering the new grass with clippings.

Why 2 instead of 3? To allow more sun to get to the new grass.
