Nothing going on with the triclopyr treatment yet. Put another mow on it and dropped .21 AMS. Raised up one notch on the mower but I think I have to drop it back down. Mowed the whole 4800 and barely had an anything in the bag and it was all brown.

Funy thing- Neighbors wife comes home from work and says “ you know your making him jealous with those stripes don’t you” I laughed and said “All I have is weeds , he‘s got KBG sod!”
Always nice to get some compliments from the neighbors.

Is that .21lb N/1k using AMS or .21lb of AMS?

Going turkey hunting this weekend and think I’m gonna run into a challenge after I return. 3” of rain comming starting Saturday night with intermittent breaks stopping on Wednesday. Pretty sure the lawn is gonna get pretty tall. How long do you guys wait between cuts when stepping down the height multiple notches ? My mower drops a half inch per and I wont break the 1/3rd rule.

If I’m trying to aggressively drop the height, I might mow every other day or even every day. I will say, though, that breaking the 1/3 rule once in a while isn’t the worst thing you can do - particularly during the growth flushes the spring and fall bring.

I’ve jokingly said in the past, “the 1/3 rule means leave no more than 1/3 of the blades left, right?” Sometimes it’s all the schedule can allow.

Ground temp 5 day average from greencast is still 47* but forsythias are starting to bloom around the neighborhood. Dropping PreM this week.

Stoped by my local site one yesterday and picked up granular prodiamine .58 by Lebanon and some SOP . 10k sq’ Warehouse supplying golf courses. I believe the good supplies issue has been resolved.

Wondering if you guys could confirm the below for me

Looks like triv to me I would dig out the soil 12 inches wider from this spot and discard it's filled with stolens and triv has spread more than you see

Made it home between rain fronts and got a mow in. Pulled up and said oh good getting some color finally. Made a pass at 2 1/2 and didn’t like the cut quality. Made a second pass at 2 and got a nice crisp looking cut. Traded some color for it though. First time trying the diamond cut but color is light so you can barely see it. LOL 😂 Clover looks great if your into that (n)

Yes Saturday morning, not much talking though very quiet. A two year old 8” beard and 1” spurs at 10am. Rain had them quiet at day break had to cover a lot of ground to find one willing to talk. Yesterday was a wash out. Trying to go back for a long weekend on Thursday if the weather stays like they say it will be.

Mowed again Thursday, Grubex and .21Lb N/M AMS went down before the rain. @isugoose21 saved me 150 bucks on my mower by recognizing a price drop at HD so I ordered a checkmate and installed it last night. Anxiously awaiting to test it out on the next go around. Seeing some browning from the Triclopyr app from April 28th, not much but some. Planning on hitting it again on Sunday with the concentrate this time. Took delivery of a solo 430-2 pump sprayer that takes tee jet heads so I’ll try it out .

Planning ahead- wondering when you guys start to raise your HOC for summer heat? Loving the 2” HOC at the moment but I don’t think it will do well over the summer at that height? I‘m still mowing every 4 days and dumping 25% of a bag of clippings for the front and then the same for the back. I’m bagging to help with weed control at the moment.

Usually I start raising it up towards the end of May here in MA - I might go from 1.25 to 1.75 on my next mow. Maybe when daytime temps start breaking into the 80s more regularly?

I’m having to do it a little earlier than planned because it has been pouring here for a week and the grass is growing like crazy.

I'm cutting at 1.75" and will start using a wetting agent in a couple of weeks. My plan is for late June or early July to raise it to 2.25-2.75" or whenever I can't keep up with the irrigation. I would like to keep it at 1.75" but I don't think that will work with our heat and humidity.

Being near the ocean keeps our temps lower a little longer because of the water being cold. Morning temps here are around 50-52 lately. I guess I’ll let the 2”HOC ride for a while longer after both your comments.

I just read a little bit about wetting agents. I have loam and a high water table. I think if I used a vertical wetting agent I have to start worrying about root rot. LOL 😂 Slow and steady wins the race , there’s a lot to learn here about all the extra’s . Right now just want to get proficient with good basic program before I start getting analysis paralysis.

Based on this upcoming forcast seems like the weather turned here. I am going up from my 2 inches on the front this week, bagging with all the Poa. It has been nice to spot level with the lower cut 50 50 compost sand mix.

Got back from turkey hunting today with enough time to mow and drop another .21lbN/M of AMS.

Grounds Keeper rake came today can ya tell. LOL Put the business end to work on a poa patch or two maybe three. ;) More browning from the triclopyr app on the 28th of April. Started raining on me didn’t get the second app of triclopyr down. Neighbors dandelions are up to 15—17” on one side of me and the bag was lined with all the fuzzy’s. Neighbor on the other side landscapers are mowing at like 5 inches.

Noticing what I believe to be some red thread showing from all the rain we’ve had. Picked up 2 bags of disease ex and 2 bags of bio advanced. Need to get a couple of bags of Infuse to round it off. Dropped one bag of disease ex tonight at 2.25 lb/M

That big brown patch on the far side of the main front lawn is pissing me off. I think it’s Creeping Bentgrass. I raked the hell out of it the other night but there is still more browning in there. Have a feeling I’m gonna have a hole there for the whole summer if I take it all out. I went against myself on the last mow and cut at 2.5” to try and save some color. I shouldn’t have , I have come to the conclusion that I like it better at 2” it just looks so much cleaner. I now understand the appeal of low mow better and has me rethinking my reno seed choices. I don’t think I’ll ever get into reel mowing but have a lot of respect for those that do its next level , I just don’t have that kind of time.

I have a few spots which I suspect are red thread, but are lacking a red tone to them so I am a bit confused. A lot of rain here and heavy fog as well the last few days. I happened to be looking at the weather radar today and zoomed out and saw Montauk and thought to myself "wow Montauket's really out there".

For the creeping bentgrass maybe pull a few pieces of grass up and see what it looks like. When I was mowing at 4" it was like 10-12" horizontal brown stalks that carpeted the area with little green blades of grass that stuck up. I went crazy and raked it all up in July/August.

See second picture in post 12 that’s what it looks like under there. Not 12” stalks but a lot of stuff was just laying flat on the soil before I started raking. Kind of like a stalk mat. There’s some dead poa a there too, I’m pulling them and you can see the old seed heads.

Yeah it’s out there, and I work 20 blocks south of the George Washington bridge on the Hudson River. I need to get one of those hybrid / remote jobs, it would save me a metric shit ton of travel time. The lawn we’re talking about is my primary which is halfway between both on the south shore in Suffolk County. Two hours each way from the primary 3+ each way on the silver bullet from Montauk. Hence the reason my time is short. Wish the LIRR had frequent flyer miles.
