Milorganite and Phosphorus

I noticed on my latest soil test that my phosphorus levels were very high. I did some research and saw where Milorganite can lead to high Phosphorus and high P can lead to iron being locked up in soil. So, I'm going to stop milorganite for a while. 1. Is there anything to bring P levels down. 2. How long should I stay of Milorganite 3. Is there another organic in this same category that's not heavy in P? I heard chicken feed is a good slow release for microbes.

The only reason I use Milorganite (Sunniland clone) is to help the soil. It is not something I would do on a routine basis. Find a fertilizer that closely matches your soil test. There are several brands out there that make zero P fertilizers. Sunniland makes a 24-0-11 in my area that you can get at Lowes.

And if your up for using a liquid. Simple Lawn Solutions has a lot of "no phosphorus" fertilizers.

Also keep in mind what your soil needs are. Currently i only buy fertilizers that have some form of micronutrients in them. However i may read my soil test at the end of year and find they are too high. I know right now that i am low in manganese, sulfur, and magnesium. So i make sure my fertilizer has those in it.

High Ph can also lock up nutrients so you'll want to know where your ph is as well.

I'm not sure the requirements of Bermuda, but i have St. Aug. which requires a N/Potash ratio of 1-0-1 or 2-0-1.

Since my potash was average last year and i hardly put any down i will take it easy this year with the K.
