I use Google. In fact I did this a couple days ago to verify my measurements for my backyard project. It was extremely close.

If you right click, and do measure distance, it opens a line. You can click again, and then create a second line, When you do that, you can continue on clicking and creating lines to get an area. You simply need to close the area and it will provide the measurement for you. I hope this helps.

 

Yep, you just keep clicking to add points/line segments. Once you close the polygon by clicking on the first point you made it calculates the area.

Then you can even drag the points around to fine tune.

For curves I just use a bunch of points that are close together to approximate the curve.

Just to round out the options, if you have a Rachio you can set up a yard map over a satellite picture and it will also show you the sqft of your zones.

 

I'm using yardestimate.com now, which is working great.

 

I guess I'm a nerd here....I used a measuring wheel and hand calculated!
